How to apply

Applications for the 2026 residency program are now closed. Applications for the 2027 program are currently open. To be considered, applications must be submitted by June 30, 2026.

La Maison de Simon welcomes painters, illustrators, comic artists, visual artists, and other practitioners working within the field of studio art, from all nationalities. Nature, through its slowness, light, and seasonal cycles, can deeply inform an artistic perspective, whether figurative or abstract. Artists may apply individually or, as a pair. Applying as a pair, it can be for a collaborative project, or to work independently in the company of each other.

Residencies last six to eight weeks for artists in residence and four weeks for professors in residence. Applicants must be at least 35 years old.

Applications may be submitted in French or English and must be sent as a single PDF file (maximum 10 MB), including:

  • A biography
  • A selection of ten works
  • A statement of intent describing the residency project

Artist duos may submit a joint application if collaborating on a single project, or submit separate applications. In the case of separate applications, both submissions must be sent simultaneously.
