La Maison de Simon is an artist residency dedicated to studio art, founded in 2023 in the village of Fontaine-sous-Jouy, in Normandy. Just a few kilometers from Giverny, once a thriving Impressionist artists’ colony, this former stone barn sits within a bucolic French landscape.

Conceived as a place to step away from distraction and routine, the residency offers artists the time and space to slow down, reset, and explore new directions in their work.

The Residency

The residency program draws from a long tradition of artistic creation shaped by the light and landscapes of Normandy. Whether their work is figurative or abstract, residents are encouraged to draw from the surroundings as a source of renewal.

The main studio, spacious and filled with natural light, is divided into three open areas, allowing for a clear view of ongoing projects. Two adjoining ground-floor studios, accessible directly from the outside, are occasionally used for children’s workshops and Open House events. A ceramic kiln is also available on site.

Selected artists can come on their own or invite another artist to join them during their stay.

Current Artists in Residence

La Maison de Simon is proud to welcome Grace Pettis, a Nashville-based singer-songwriter, and Marcus Scott, a New York playwright and librettist. Their residency marks the beginning of a creative collaboration focused on developing a new music hall project, grounded in a shared belief in storytelling as a catalyst for artistic and social transformation.

The artists will occupy the space from December 2025 to February 2026.
