Grace Pettis and Marcus Scott bring two distinct yet deeply complementary voices to the contemporary stage. A singer-songwriter, Grace creates music of rare emotional intensity, where the personal resonates on a universal scale. Marcus, a prolific playwright and socially engaged librettist, gives voice to those navigating the fractures and mythologies of American society. Their residency at La Maison de Simon marks the beginning of a creative dialogue at the intersection of music and theater.
An acclaimed singer-songwriter recognized for the emotional power of her writing, Grace Pettis creates songs that bridge personal experience and universal themes. Based in Nashville, she has collaborated with Ruthie Foster and the Indigo Girls, and performed on platforms such as NPR’s Mountain Stage and SXSW. Her most recent album, Down to the Letter, offers an intimate and unflinching exploration of grief, resilience, and self-reclamation, marking a new chapter in an evolving body of work rooted in narrative clarity and lyrical depth.
Based in New York, Marcus Scott is a widely recognized playwright, librettist, and musical theater writer whose work has received support from institutions such as the Chelsey/Bumbalo Playwriting Award, the Valdez Theatre Conference, Catwalk Artist Residency and Works & Process LaunchPAD “Process as Destination” Residency at the Guggenheim. He write bold and powerful plays that centers lives often left out of dominant narratives, generations in search of meaning, fluid identities, and unapologetic dreamers. Blending humor, memory, and political clarity, his work explores the tension between legacy and liberation, driven by a deep belief in the healing power of imagination.
